Job Profile

As an Assistant Underwriter you will provide support to senior underwriters with new business, renewals and mid-term adjustments within authority levels, ensuring an efficient service is provided to brokers.  You will process survey requests, reinsurance worksheets, policy documents and accounting debits/credits.  You will maintain and develop personal knowledge as well as ongoing at desk training.  Working collaboratively with other parts of the organisation when required, will comply with binder, procedures and underwriting authority levels and contribute towards business Gross Written Premium (GWP) objectives.  You will undertake training in line with agreed objectives and keep up to date with technical, legal and market developments via use of e-learning, internal training and reading market related material.  You will also maintain and develop personal knowledge and skills through continued professional development.

Applicant Requirements

It is essential when applying for this role you possess basic commercial insurance experience from either an insurer or broker.  You will possess good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.  You must also possess knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, work well within a team and be confident liaising with people at all levels.
