Job Profile

The successful candidate will become part of a team of head office technical underwriters who are responsible for supporting the underwriters within UK National Markets in achieving profitable growth of new business and retaining renewals  via liaison with legal and regulatory, actuarial and National Markets Management.  The candidate will ensure the company continues to meet its regulatory requirements.

Will work closely with the Technical Manager to provide an excellent technical support to the Managing Director regarding underwriting and legal and regulatory requirements. Will be required to evaluate new product propositions, analyse underwriting data and administrate binding authorities.  The candidate will consider changes in cover and the implications for the UK book of business.  The position will involve direct implementation within the business of legal and regulatory changes and 'conduct risk' requirements including the provision of conduct risk management information. A key role will be to monitor and implement underwriting protocols and report adherence to underwriting guidelines 

Will be able to demonstrate and promote a thorough knowledge of company guidelines and authority levels in order to achieve profitability and underwriting objectives. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the underwriting line managers, regional/sales managers, renewal team leaders and National Markets Management through regular dialogue on specific developments, projects and regulatory requirements. Project management and delivery of specific projects which contribute towards regulatory and profitability objectives.

 

Applicant Requirements

The successful candidate will have relevant experience in an underwriting, operational or a role with legal and regulatory liaison and have developed strong technical and analytical skills.  Experience of e-trading platforms.  Excellent written and spoken communication skills.  Will have completed the ACII or equivalent, or be making good progress towards qualification.  Good IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and will show willingness to learn MINT systems including the National Markets e-trading platform.  Stakeholder management and conciliation skills.
