Job Profile

Specialist international insurer actively looking for a Development Underwriter for their Manchester office.  This role will be responsible for finding, developing and growing new business opportunities within the region and actively identifying opportunities to cross-sell and build the whole business.

Key responsibilities

Underwrite and sell a range of products for businesses in the professional, technology, media and charity sectors. 

Products include commercial combined, professional indemnity and management liability.

Drive new business opportunities by regularly visiting brokers' offices across the region, building a strong relationship with the individuals there and delivering a super service to them.

Find new scheme opportunities through a deep understanding of the brokers' business.

Through internal coaching model seek to continually improve broker interactions.

Effectively negotiate with both internal and external parties including identified points of contact with a brokerage

Maintain and develop internal and external customer relations and act as a point of referral.

Applicant Requirements

Person Specification

A proven track record in business development and underwriting in the local insurance market preferably in a commercial class.

Experience of PI would be an advantage but is not essential.

Ideally a graduate (2.1 or above or equivalent) and have already made good progress towards the ACII qualification.

High drive, self motivation and determination to achieve results.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of relationship management and customer focus.

Clear ability to think on your feet and make intelligent, innovative business decisions.

Good influencing and leadership skills.Team player with high work rate.
