New IAUK Team Member

We have a new team member at IAUK, Anthony Brooks. Anthony has joined our Leeds office in the General Insurance division. Here's a little more about our newest team member...

I have joined the team at IAUK and wanted to tell you a little about my working history.

Prior to my new role I initially spent 4 years in the Healthcare recruitment sector. This was a varied role which saw me working in Macedonia (of all places) in a call centre. From there I moved to a short contract working with the NHS. However, my original background is in General Insurance.

I moved to Leeds in 2002 and joined what was Green Flag Insurance. I worked on the Tesco Personal Finance contract in the Accident Management Division, which dealt with all aspects of motor claims. This led to me spending 18 months in the total loss division.

As a natural progression I moved over to the Theft Department where I learned about the investigation side of claims, both carrying out desktop investigations myself, and also liaising with field specialist claims inspectors. After a 2 year stint there I moved over to the Home Accident Validation Unit (HAVU).

I continued my claims investigations experience within HAVU, dealing with accidental damage and loss on buildings and contents claims. After merging into the counter fraud division under the Direct Line heading in 2013 I was made redundant.

However there was life after Direct Line with a role as a claims partner with InFront Innovations, where I dealt with a large portfolio of subsidence claims. I subsequently moved to Towergate Insurance Brokers working on the Private Client’s claims line dealing with a mixture of home and motor claims.

Given my rounded experience I feel that I am well placed to join the General Insurance recruitment team at Independent Appointments (IAUK).

Since coming on board with IAUK and stepping back into the Insurance field, it’s clear to see that there are a lot of Insurance professionals in the market that are under notice of redundancy or have recently gone through the redundancy process.

The positive thing to take from this (which I have learned first-hand), is that as one door shuts there are many more that open, and that is exactly what I am here to assist with.

A lot of clients that may not be advertising, are always happy to receive details on talented, experienced claims staff from either Motor or Home backgrounds. This is why I would encourage people to contact me for a chat. With the connections that working at Independent Appointments brings, there are many avenues to explore to find your next potential employer.

I feel confident in the team and my role here at Independent Appointments. I can not only assist clients in growing the business but also help and support the many candidates out there looking for new opportunities, into their next role.
