To write a minimum amount of new business and renewal gross written premium each year as agreed with line manager. This will include top line, conversion, profit and productivity targets. Lead a line of business, challenging the Product Head on appetite and pricing, whilst inspiring the Insurance Experts to accelerate the growth of your area. Drive the digitisation of the business through strong working relationships with the marketing and acquisitions team. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Customer Experience Centre (CEC) management and Insurance Experts. Lead product training sessions within the CEC.
Maintain profitability of the account by making sound and consistent individual underwriting decisions. To identify and challenge non-standard underwriting decisions within the Technical Underwriting Guide (TUG) with a reasoned referral to a product expert or senior underwriter. Speak directly with customers to ensure an exceptional customer journey. Faster resolutions, clearer understanding to aid decision making and providing world class customer service.
Take ownership of the performance of the Direct Commercial book, identifying non performing accounts in terms of key performance indicators (e.g. new business, retention and profitability) and take appropriate action or flag with the relevant people. Provide feedback to the Portfolio Underwriting Manager on future automation of the business. Progression through the company's underwriter passport and training schedule. Provide adhoc support to claims and customer relations in regards to Direct Commercial underwriting decisions. To go the extra mile when dealing with challenging situations, raising the overall standards of the operation.
A strong knowledge of PI and commercial combined products would be an advantage. CII progress is desirable and a required commitment if you are to join the team. Preferably degree qualified with a minimum of 2 A levels at grade C or above, although this is not a pre-requisite. You must have an outstanding attitude, demonstrable drive, self-motivation and determination to achieve results. Passionate about winning new business and retaining customers. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with customer focus. Able to apply consideration to potential outcomes and to make decisions in difficult and complex situations.
