Excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Lines Underwriter to become a key part of a team in Manchester - Dealing with the full renewal and policy-change cycle for an allocation of small/medium Financial Lines Management Liability business (utilising support provided).

Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with Managers and Development Underwriters etc in assessing risks and handling the delivery of services.

Send and follow up on subjectivities.

Endorsement approval.

Ensure timely resolution of premium discrepancies.

Advise the Branch Underwriters where the renewal of an account is potentially contentious.

Arrange and attend broker/client visits.

Building positive relationships across client and customer groups to enhance service and increase output levels.

Point of contact for escalated technical underwriting issues.

Create strong internal network to promote and execute cross-selling and up-selling initiatives.

Utilising excellent negotiation skills to retain existing business, planning, promoting and managing the delivery of resources in a cost effective manner.

Reviewing assigned renewals to agree renewal timelineIdentifying cross selling opportunities for target industry segments or lines of business.

Deciding pricing strategy for renewal and attend renewal meetings for accounts where required.

Reviewing renewal detail upon receipt from broker.

Forwarding documented booking and issuance instructions, releasing quote to broker and bind renewal with broker.

Applicant Requirements

The role requires a forward-thinking, intelligent, capable Underwriter with a strong technical underwriting background in Financial Lines. Candidates must be driven, with high-energy, commitment, enthusiasm and ambition, as well as have a customer orientated manner and approach focussed on positive relationship building. Good reasoning skills and ability to negotiate without compromising underwriting approach or principles will ensure success in this role.  Other skills required are the ability to work as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem solving skills whilst working under pressured time constraints and delivering within regulations.

Educated in UK/Ireland insurance practice (by progress towards or attainment of CII qualification) - ACII qualification or progress towards is desirable.
